Chris & Martina: The Final Set (2026)

From Tribeca Promo:

The documentaty brings together tennis superstars Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova to narrate their intertwined histories. The intense rivalry between these players pushed both of them towards the ultimate goal of being the number one tennis player in the world. Evert’s all-American background contrasted with Navratilova’s upbringing in communist Czechoslovakia, but both were tirelessly committed to the sport. In the present, Evert and Navratilova deal with their respective battles with cancer, reckoning with the effects of illness and medical treatment on their lives.

This film explores the immense weight of being a star athlete and the personal sacrifices made by both women to support their dreams. Examining this shared experience reveals the deep bond of friendship formed between these tennis icons.—Cara Cusumano

From my standpoint,  the documentary addresses both women's struggles with cancer and the harsh treatments they have to endure.  The film is a commentary on how even superstars have to undergo brutal, but necessary, medical interventions.

It is uplifting and enlightening to see and listen to this honest duo.
